Born on 21 November 1920 in Bapatla, Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh
The founder of the School of Mathematics at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
He played a major role in the development of mathematics in post-independence India.
His mathematical interests centred around analysis and analytic number theory
one of the leading mathematicians of the 20th century who played a pivotal role in making TIFR a world-renowned centre for mathematics.
November 21: On This Day – Hot Air Balloon:-First manned flight
On November 21, 1783 the first free flight carrying a human occurred in Paris, France in a hot air balloon made of paper and silk made by the Montgolfier brothers.
The balloon carried two men, Francois Pilatrê de Rozier and Francois Laurent, Marquis of Arlanders.
The balloon reached an altitude of at least 500 feet and traveled about 5½ miles before landing safely 25 minutes later.
