The then Hon’ble Minister of State for Planning, Government of India in his letter had requested the then Deputy Chief Ministers and the Minister of Science and Technology to establish Science and Technology Academy by stating “If science and technology are not developed in the competitive world, regional growth will not be possible” and mentioned that Shri N. Seshagiri Rao had also called for the establishment of the same at the Kannadigara Jagruti Samavesha

The Then Hon’ble Chief Ministers announced the establishment of Science and Technology Academy during the Celebration of Kannada Rajyostava
Establishment
To promote the development of science and technology in the state, encourage basic science education and to popularize science among students and general public, Karnataka Science and Technology Academy was established on July 30, 2005 (Government Order No: ವಿಯಇ 70 ವಿತ್ರಮ 2004)
