Brief Curriculum Vitae of Dr. Vishweshwaraiah Prakash
Dr. Vishweshwaraiah Prakash served as the President of International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) (2020 to 2022) and Vice-President of International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) (2017 to 2022); Currently Adjunct Professor at Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India. He was Former Director of CFTRI, Mysore, and was appointed as Distinguished Scientist of CSIR, India. He served in the Council of KSTA for a long number of years. He continues his academic activities even today in teaching and training Youngsters.
His entire education is from the University of Mysore, Mysore. He has received more than 66 National and International awards. He has received the Coveted Bhatnagar Award for Science and Technology of India and Rajyothsava award from Karnataka and several Lifetime Achievement Awards from various organizations like FICCI, IUFoST (both in India and Abroad), AFST (I) and also from KSTA. He is currently serving in the editorial board of a number of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition and Traditional Medicine Journals and is on the editorial board of a number of Books globally. He was Chair of Panel on Nutraceuticals ( he formulated the Regulations for Nutraceuticals for India) and served as Member, Scientific Committee of FSSAI, Government of India, New Delhi. He is a fellow of most of the Academies in India and Royal Society of Chemistry, UK; IAFoST, Canada and IFT, USA and KSTA, Karnataka, India.
Dr. Prakash has completed Fifty Two Years of his untiring service and dedication to Food Science, Food Technology, and Nutrition resulting in 218 peer-reviewed research publications, 55 Patents Filed, nearly 30 Ph.D degrees (some are Masters) guided and 938 plus Keynote, Chief Guest and Convocation addresses delivered and is the author of 19 Books and 12 more Books are in pipeline. He has submitted more than 40 reports to the Govt in various capacities on Policy Matter. He is a Visiting Professor in a number of universities in India and abroad and continues to Interface in many of the social aspects of reaching out Science to People. Dr Prakash has received one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, Padmashri for his Outstanding Scientific Contribution to the Nation.
