April  2018 issue is available for viewing  A   bimonthly   science   magazine   in   Kannada   titled   ‘Vijnana   Loka’   is being   regularly   published   by   KSTA   since   2007   in   the   months   of March,    May,    July,    September,    November    and    January,    The magazine    is    being    sent    to    pre-university    and    science    degree colleges,   science   centers,   libraries   and   other   organizations   across the state.

Milk from Silk

Researchers    from    Sweden’s    KTH    Royal    Institute    of    Technology    and    the German   research   center,   DESY   (Deutsches   Elektronen-Synchrotron),   recently reported    they    have    spun    strands    of    proteins    derived    from    ordinary    milk proteins,   namely   whey   powder.   In   the   new   study,   the   nanofibrils   were   formed by a protein from cow’s whey under the influence of heat and acid.  

Star Naming Ceremony !

The   International   Astronomical   Union,   arbiter   of   naming   things   in   space,   has now   named   227   stars   in   our   galaxy.   Before   this,   only   14   stars   (included   in   the 227)   had   been   formally   named,   as   part   of   the   IAU’s   contest   to   name   notable exoplanets and the stars that they orbit
